Ben Rector was born Benjamin Evans Rector on November 6, 1986 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Although he took piano lessons as a child, he didn’t begin to pursue music seriously until high school. While enrolled at the University of Arkansas, he released two albums, Twenty Tomorrow (2008) and Songs That Duke Wrote (2009.) He began touring on weekends and during breaks in the school year, playing approximately 200 shows during his college career.
In June of 2009, Ben Rector relocated to Nashville. His third album, Into the Morning, was released on February 16, 2010. That year, he co-headlined the “Three Amigos Tour” with Steve Moakler and Andrew Ripp as well as the “The Beat Lives Forever Tour” with Drew Holcomb ,and The Neighbors. He also performed as the supporting act for Dave Barnes and Five for Fighting. In 2011, Rector released Something Like This and headlined the 25 city “Good Time Tour.” He also served as co-producer on Steve Moakler’s album Watching Time Run.
Ben Rector’s most recent album, The Walking in Between , was released on August 20, 2013.It was co-produced by Jamie Kenney, Charlie Peacock and Rector himself. It is the first release on Ben Rector’s own Aptly Named Recordings label.
