Sally Field Bio

Sally Field, born Sally Margaret Field on November 6th 1946 in California and is an American director and actress.  The artist began her career in 1965 with the sitcom Gidget and then went on to work in sitcoms, The Flying Nun and The Girl with Something Extra. Going on to work in film with 1977’s action comedy film, Smokey and the Bandit and Norma Rae, a biopic for which she won an Academy Award.

With credits that include notable successes such as Steel Magnolias in 1989, the 1993 Robin Williams starring comedy, Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump in 1994 and then returned to television with roles in the medical drama, ER, a role that earned her an Emmy Award, and the lead role of Nora in the drama, Brothers & Sisters, another Emmy Award winning role. In 2012 she was nominated for another Academy Award for the biopic, Lincoln and in 2014 was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
