Major R. Johnson Finley, better known as MAJOR., is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor who performs soul and R&B music. He was born in Denton, Texas, United States, on March 10, 1984. Major began his music career in 1995 as a live performer, but he began his recording career in 2014. He has long been recognized as one of the top live soul and R&B performers, but he has also made a name for himself in the studio with a discography that boasts the hit singles Why I Love You, Better With You in It, Honest, Love Me Ole, and the albums I Am MAJOR., Even More, and MAJOR.HOPE Motivations. His music was featured in the album Neo Soul Sessions alongside Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, Janet Jackson, Chrisette Michele, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Robin Thicke. MAJOR. Received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance. As an actor, he has starred in the TV series Genius, Star, Masters of Sex, and Flawed.
