Jonny May Bio
Jonathan James May (born on April 1, 1990, in Chiseldon, Wiltshire, in South West England) is an international English rugby union player. He plays for Gloucester and the England national team. May began playing rugby at a young age. He was trained at Wootton Bassett R.F.C. as a part of mini and junior teams before he started playing professionally.
After studying at Hartpury College, May joined Gloucester’s rugby academy in 2009 where he made his first start in a preseason game. In 2012, he started playing for the England Saxons. Also in 2012, May was named the inaugural winner of the ‘L.V. Breakthrough Player Award’ and Gloucester’s ‘Young Player of the Year’ for the 2011/2012 season. He also made an impressive try that was named the Try-of-the-Season at the Aviva Premiership Awards.
In 2014, May signed a long-term contract with Gloucester Rugby. The contract, however, lasted for only three years as May was involved in a swap deal to join Leicester Tigers in 2017. Interestingly, May returned to Gloucester in 2020 and agreed to another long-term contract.
Internationally, May plays for England. He won his first international cap in 2013 and has, so far, played in the 2014 Six Nations Championship and the 2019 Six Nations Championship.
