Andy Murray is a British professional tennis player born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 15, 1987. He is a two-time Olympian Champion, three-time Grand Slam winner, Davis Cup Champion, and the winner of World Tour Finals in 2016 and former world number 1. He started playing tennis at three years old and by the time he was five played in his first competitive tournament. At eight years old, he was playing against adults in the Central District Tennis League. In 2003 as a junior player he reached number 6 in the world and in 2004 he reached number 2. His first time playing in the Olympics was in 2012 at the London Olympics and he received a gold medal for the Men’s Singles and a silver medal for Mixed Doubles. Murray returned to the Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and received a second gold medal in the Men’s Singles making him the only tennis player to have won two Olympic singles titles. On January 11 2019 he announced that he was planning to retire in the next few months and hopes to make Wimbledon his final tournament.
