Originating in Owatonna, Minnesota, Owl City is the creation of singer and songwriter Adam Young, who put together this project back in 2007. Adam Young was growing tired of the job that he had and decided to pursue his interest in creating music, which he uploaded to Myspace. Operating under the name Owl City, he released his EP Of June in 2007, and later his debut album Maybe I’m Dreaming in 2008, which gained recognition in the Electronic music arena. In 2009, Owl City was signed to Universal Republic, and he quickly followed this with the release of his first studio album Ocean Eyes that year. This featured the singles “Vanilla Twilight” and “Fireflies”, the latter of which became a top song in the United States. Shifting from an electronic to a more acoustic sound, Owl City began to release material under the project title Sky Sailing, and released an album An Airplane Carried Me to Bed in the summer of 2010.
Going back to Owl City, he released All Things Bright and Beautiful in 2011, preceded by the popular single “Deer in the Headlights”. Just before releasing his fourth studio album, Owl City collaborated with singer Carly Rae Jepsen to release “Good Time” in 2012, and later, he unveiled his album The Midsummer Station.
