Nathaniel Joseph Ruess, better known as Nate Ruess, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead singer of the pop bands Fun and The Format. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, United States, on February 26, 1982. Nate began his music career in 2000 when he joined the indie-pop band The Format, with whom he has released the hit singles The First Single (You Know Me), On Your Porch, and She Doesn’t Get It. In 2008 he formed the indie rock band Fun with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost, with whom he released the hit singles We Are Young featuring Janelle Monae, Some Nights, and Carry On. Nate has also had a successful solo career which culminated in the release of his global hit Nothing Without Love.
