Damien Woody is a retired American football player who played for three teams in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Patrick Henry High School. He led them to the state football championship in 1994. He later went to Boston College, where he played for their team. Woody started his professional career with the New England Patriots after being selected in the first round (17th overall pick) of the 1999 NFL draft. He went on to make 76 starts for the Patriots.
In March 2004, he signed with Detroit Lions as a free agent. He had an impressive start with Detroit Lions, playing every game in the first two seasons before sustaining an injury, which kept him out for most of the 2006 season. In March 2008, he signed a five-year deal with New York Jets. In 2010, he sustained an injury, which placed him on the injury reserve list. He was released by the jets in January 2011. He retired from professional football in July 2011.
