Jamie Benn is a Canadian professional ice hockey player born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on July 18, 1989. He is currently a forward and captain of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. Before turning professional, Ben played for the junior team the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. In 2009 he won a gold medal representing Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championships. In 2009 he made his professional NHL debut with the Dallas Stars. In 2013 he signed a five-year extension contract with the Stars for $26.25 million and in 2016 signed an eight-year contract extension for $76 million. In 2014 Benn was named to the Canadian Olympic hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and won a gold medal with the team.
