Leiomy Maldonado is a dancer born on 28th April 1987 in New Orleans, United States. She is widely recognized for her dance style, voguing. She is also credited for introducing a new style of voguing when she started her career in the early 2000s in New York. Her passion for dancing began at a young age. A mentor at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club introduced her to voguing when she was 15 years old.
She later joined the ballroom scene, where she honed her dancing skills. She draws inspiration from renowned ballroom dancers Alloura Jourdan Zion and Yolanda Jourdan. In 2009, she appeared on the dance reality television show “America’s Best Dance Show”, becoming the first transgender woman to participate in a reality competition. Maldonado later appeared in Willow Smith’s music video “Whip My Hair”, where she is seen doing her signature hair flip.
