Kris Bowers Bio

Kristopher “Kris” Bowers was born on April 5, 1989 in Los Angeles, California. Both of his parents are well known in the television industry and decided that they wanted him to play piano at a young age. He enjoyed it and knew he wanted to be a musician. He attended several schools focused on music, including the prestigious Juilliard school.

Bowers won the 2011 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. The following year, he toured around the country with the popular Marcus Miller. Concord Records released his album Heroes + Misfits in 2014 even though he created it in 2012. The same year, he performed at several prominent festivals including the London Jazz Festival and Spain’s Festival de Jazz de Vitoria-Gasteiz. He has most recently gotten recognition for his part in the soundtrack of Netflix’s show, Dear White People.
