Kae Tempest Bio
Born in 1985, Kate Tempest (Kate Esther Calvert) is a Westminster, London, England native. Growing up with a love of poetry, theater, and rapping, Tempest took her passions and transformed them into an enviable rap career. With the release of her 2013 poetry book “Everything Speaks in its Own Way”, Tempest turned to theatrical spoken word in “Brand New Ancients” which helped her develop a healthy love for rap and hip hop – but she was not ready to commit. In 2013 she released a play, “Hopelessly Devoted” at the Birmingham Rep Theatre. Finally, she was ready to commit to her passion for fast-talking, poetic rhyming with her 2014 album release “Everybody Down (Big Dada, Ninja Tune)”. Since then, Tempest has been touring the world and receiving nominations for her immense talent.
