David Otunga Bio

David Daniel Otunga (born April 7, 1980 in Elgin, Illinois, USA) is an American actor, lawyer, former professional wrestler, and commentator. He is most renowned for his time working with WWE. He was the runner-up on the first season of NXT. Otunga first worked as a lawyer from 2005 to 2007 before appearing as a contestant on the reality show I Love New York 2. There, he was nicknamed "Punk" and made it to the final three in the competition before being eliminated on the penultimate episode of the series.

In November 2008, Otunga signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. He was assigned to its development territory, Florida Championship Wrestling before making his debut on May 29, 2009, under the ring name, Dawson Alexander. On February 23, 2010, Otunga made his debut on the first season of NXT. At the end of the season, he finished in second place overall, losing out to Wade Barrett. Otunga soon became a part of the wrestling stable, The Nexus.

He featured in a lot of other matches including WWE Superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton, and Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk. He also became a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, each with fellow Nexus members John Cena and Michael McGillicutty. After a short spell off WWE, Otunga made his return to television on February 2, 2015 doing the Raw Pre-Show. On June 14, 2016, Otunga made his color commentary on a WWE Main Event and the following Friday on WWE Superstars along with Tom Phillips.
