Hercules & Love Affair Bio
Hercules and Love Affair is a musical project from New York formed in 2007 by DJ Andy Butler. From 2007 to 2010, the group was composed of Nomi Ruiz, Kim Ann Foxman and guest singer Antony Hegarty from the band Antony and the Johnsons. They produced music under DFA Records.
On March 10, 2008, Hercules & Love Affair released their debut self-titled album. The album, produced by Butler and Tim Goldsworthy was critically well-received and charted in the top 40 in several countries.
In January 2011, Butler returned with a brand new crew and released “Blue Songs”, Hercules and Love Affair’s sophomore effort, mainly influenced by nineties house and electro music. The group released three more albums between 2013 and 2022 including, ‘The Feast of the Broken Heart’ (2014), ‘Omnion’ (2017), and ‘In Amber’ (2022). Their album, In Amber, pivoted away from upbeat, dance-oriented tracks into a more reflective style.
