Jon Ossoff is a politician born on 16th February 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He has been serving as the senator of Georgia since 2021. Ossoff was elected senator on a Democratic ticket. He previously worked as an investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker. Ossoff announced his desire to contest for Georgia’s sixth congressional district seat in January 2017 after Tim Price was appointed secretary of Health and Human Services by the then president Donald Trump. He was endorsed by the likes of Stacey Abrams, John Lewis, and Hank Johnson.
When the results of the elections came out, none of the candidates had achieved half the votes so the top two candidates were forced to a run-off, which saw Ossoff win eventually. During the 2020 Senate election, he managed to unseat David Perdue as the senator of Georgia. He won the election by 53% of the votes. He was sworn into the senate on 20th January 2021 by VP Kamala Harris.
