Hoodoo Gurus Bio

Hoodoo Gurus is a musical group formed in 1981 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The current members include Dave Faulkner (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Brad Shepherd (guitar, vocals, harmonica), Richard Grossman (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Nik Rieth (drums). They are associated with Phantom Records, Big Time Records, A&M, Elektra, RCA Records, Chrysalis Records, BMG, and Mushroom Records.


The group released its debut single, Leilani, in 1982. Their first album, Stoneage Romeos, followed in March 1984 via the Australian label Big Time. It was certified gold in Australia. Their second album, Mars Needs Guitars!, peaked at number five on the Australian charts, earning a triple-platinum status.


The group has played at The Croxton Bandroom in Thornbury and The Powerstation in Auckland. They have over 571,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their discography includes Magnum Cum Louder (1989), Bite The Bullet (1998), Mach Schau (2004), Purity of Essence (2010), and Chariot Of The Gods (2022).
