Ben Sollee was born on November 28, 1983 in Lexington, Kentucky. His parents were both musicians and he began playing the cello in fourth grade. His first real exposure to the music world was when he was invited by famous producer and author Michael Johnathon to be part of the band for his weekly radio show.
Solle was accepted into the Sparrow Quartet, which was the first musical group to ever be allowed into Tibet. He continued performing and acting music with them; however, he also launched a solo career on the side. He eventually started touring with the Vienna Teng Trio as well as performing solo at prominent venues such as the Bomhard Theater.
Solleeās music is considered unique because he combines several different instruments to create surprisingly attractive music. He is also very talented in switching up his music, as he can twist it into more of a twang, classical, jazz, and even R&B sound. He has released several albums and EPs since he got started, most recently releasing Ben Sollee and Kentucky Native in 2017.
