Maria Valcheva Bakalova is a Bulgarian award-winning actress, producer, and writer best known for her work in film and television. She was born in Burgas, Bulgaria, on June 4, 1996. Maria began her acting career in 2015 when she appeared in the TV series Tipichno, and she has since appeared in the series Untitled Anthology Series and Freedom or Death. Her filmography includes Transgression, Last Call, Women Do Cry, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and The Bubble, but she is best known for starring in the film Borat Subsequent Movie alongside Sacha Baron Cohen, Tom Hanks, Dani Popescu, Manuel Vieru, and Miroslav Tolj. Maria won a Gold Derby Award for Breakthrough Performer, a London Critics Circle Film Award for Supporting Actress of the Year, and a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress.
