Prabal Gurung kick started his career in fashion with apprenticeships at several local fashion stores in India while also studying at the New Delhi's Institute of Fashion Technology. After working with the acclaimed Indian designer Manish Arora for a while, Gurung moved to New York in 1999 to take his career to new heights. His talent was further legitimized when he earned the Best Designer Award at the annual FIT design competition during his first year at Parsons School of Design. From there on, it was clear that Gurung was destined for glory. After honing his skill further at established design labels including Donna Karan, Cynthia Rowley and Bill Blass, he launched his own eponymous collection. His designs tout a timeless amalgamation of old-world charm and cutting-edge modernity and have been graced by many famous personalities and dignitaries including Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton, Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra and more.
