Senator Barbara Boxer Bio

Barbara Sue Levy Boxer is an American politician and lobbyist, who was born on November 11th, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York. She represented California's 6th congressional district as a member of the Democratic Party from 1983 to 1993. Barbara studied at Brooklyn College, in 1962, where she earned her degree in economics. She successfully represented California in the US Senate from 1993 to 2017. During the 2016 presidential campaign, she actively backed Hillary Clinton. Barbara put forth the legislation to do away with the electoral college not long before she left office in 2017. “A Time to Run” (2005) and “Blind Trust” are novels that she co-wrote with Mary-Rose Hayes (2009). Moreover, she also released her autobiography, “The Art of Tough: Fearlessly Facing Politics and Life,” in 2016.
