Chingy, born Howard Bailey Jr, is a rapper and singer from St. Louis, Missouri. He first broke out with “Right Thurr,” a catchy and danceable song-of-the-summer contender that instantly climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100, and put Chingy on the map in 2003. The success of the single resulted in being singed by Ludacris, who distributed Chingy’s debut album through Capitol Records. The album, Jackpot, boasted features from artists such as Snoop Dogg and Trina, as well as two hit singles “Right Thurr,” and “One Call Away.” As a result, Jackpot was a commercial smash, going triple platinum within a few years. Chingy has since remained an extremely prolific recording artist, releasing six albums and over ten mixtapes since Jackpot. However, none have yet to be met with the same critical or commercial success as Jackpot.
