Onyx is an American hip-hop group based in Queens in New York City. The group consists of two members, Sticky Fingaz (Kirk Jones, born 1973) and his cousin Fredro Starr (Fred Lee Scruggs Jr., born 1971). The group got their start in 1988 and released their first single “Ah” in 1998. They also released a jazz-inspired album called “We Do it Like This”. The single led to further popularity and the group eventually was signed by Run-D.M.C.’s Jam Master Jay on his record label JMJ. They released their first studio album “Bacdafucup” in 1993. Their most recent album is SnowMads, released in 2019. Onyx is currently associated with the following music labels: Def Jam, Iceman Music Group, D3, Jam Master Jay, Rush, Major Independents, and Mad Money Movement.
