Joey Soloway Bio

Joey Soloway (formerly Jill Soloway) is an American director and writer born in Chicago, Illinois on September 26, 1965. Soloway is known for working on the television show Six Feet Under and creating, writing, producing, and directing the Amazon original series Transparent. While in college Soloway was part of the creation of an undergraduate narrative film titled Ring of Fire. After graduating from college Soloway worked as a production assistant for music videos and commercials. Joey started writing for shows like The Oblongs, The Steve Harvey Show, and Nikki and went on to write for the show Six Feet Under for four seasons. Soloway has also written episodes for shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Tell Me You Love Me, Dirty Sexy Money and more. Joey created the pilot for the Amazon original Transparent that launched on February 6, 2014 and in 2016 directed the pilot of the Amazon show I Love Dick that ran for a season. Soloway has written several books, including Susie Bright Presents: Three Kinds of Asking for It: Erotic Novellas, Tiny Ladies in Shiny Pants: Based on a True Story, and She Wants It: Desire, Power, and Toppling the Patriarchy.
