Anika Noni Rose is an American actress born on September 6, 1972, in Bloomfield, Connecticut, USA. She is best known for winning a Tony Award for her role in the Broadway production of Caroline, or Change in 2004, and starring in the musical film Dreamgirls in 2006 alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson. In 2009, she provided the voice of Disney’s Princess Tiana in the film The Princess and the Frog.
Anika graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1990 and has received a BA in Theatre from Florida A&M University. She has also studied drama at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. In 2014, her role in the Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play. She has appeared in many TV shows including The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Private Practice, The Good Wife, Bates Motel, Power, The Quad, Magical Girl Friendship Squad: Origins, and many more.
