Buju Banton Bio

Jamaican Musician Buju Banton, born July 15th 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, started his career releasing dancehall singles, and came to prominence with his albums, Stamina Daddy and Mr. Mention. After being introduced to producer Robert Ffrench, he released his first single, The Ruler. He went on to record the song Boom Bye Bye, and then join Donovan Germain’s Penthouse Records label. The talented artist had major chart success with his songs Bogle, and Love Me Browning, and broke Bob Marley’s record for most amount of number one singles in a year. Buju collaborated with the punk band Rancid, on the tracks Misty Days, Hooligans, and Life Won’t Wait. During his career, Banton released many albums including Voice of Jamaica, 'Til Shiloh, Inna Heights, Unchained Spirit, Friends for Life, Too Bad, and Rasta Got Soul. The talented musician went on to release the album, Before the Dawn, which won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
