Denise was born Denise Katrich on February 13, 1957. She was born in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California but was raised in the Southern California community of San Pedro. Denise attended the University of Arizona on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1979 with a degree in Exercise Physiology. By 1981 she was teaching aerobic classes in the City of Angels.
Denise was a multi-talented aerobics instructor, newspaper columnist, author, and television personality. She also hosted a phenomenally successful series of home-video workouts. Throughout the late '80s and '90s, she continued to appear regularly on television in series such as Denise Austin: Fit & Lite and Denise Austin's Daily Workout.
Denise wrote nine books and also a regular workout advice column Body Work by Denise Austin in Prevention Magazine. She also served the President George W. Bush board of President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS) in 2006.
