Islands is a Canadian indie rock band that was formed in 2005 in Montreal, Quebec. After the breakup of the rock band The Unicorns, former members Nicholas Thorburn, the vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist, and Jaime Thompson, the drummer, got together and founded Islands. The band had many contributors through their time active, both in concert and on record. Islands released their first album, titled “Return to the Sea” in 2006. In May of that year, Thompson decided to leave the group, and two years later they signed with ANTI- Records and released their second album, titled “Arm’s Way”. Thompson eventually returned to the band, just in time to release “Vapours”, their third record, just to leave again in 2010. This led to Luc Laurent’s joining the band as the new drummer. In 2012, they released their fourth album, titled “A Sleep & a Forgetting”, which was followed by “Ski Mask” with another drummer, Adam Halferty, who joined alongside Evan and Geordie Gordon, who are brothers that played for the band The Magic. In 2016, the band released two albums, “Taste” and “Should I Remain Here at Sea?”.
