Elkie Brooks, born Elaine Bookbinder on the 25h of February 1945 in Lancashire is an English singer, best known for being a vocalist with the bands Vinegar Joe and Dada, and later a solo artist. Known for her powerful and husky bluesy voice, her career began when she began performing at the age of fifteen in cabaret scenes, then going on the support the Beatles in their Christmas shows.
Her first album, Rich Man’s Woman was received with critical acclaim and has released twenty albums in a steady stream since, her best knowing singles being No More the Fool, Fool (If You Think It’s Over), Don’t Cry Out Loud, Lilac Wine and Pearl’s a singer. Known as the British Queen of Blues, she has seen a long career thus far.
