EPMD is an American hip hop duo made up of Erick Sermon, also known as E Double, born on November 25, 1968, and Parrish Smith, also known as Parrish Mic Doc, born on May 13, 1968, both in Brentwood, New York.
After forming in 1987, they recorded their debut single, It's My Thing, and signed to Sleeping Bag/Fresh Records for their debut album, Strictly Business. EPMD's popularity rose in the early 1990s after they formed the Hit Squad with Redman, DJ Scratch, Das EFX, K-Solo, and Hurricane G and signed with record label Def Jam, releasing their album Business as Usual in 1990, followed by Business Never Personal two years later. Back in Business was the duo's comeback album, followed by Out of Business. In 2008, they released the album, We Mean Business.
