Eric B. & Rakim Bio
Eric B. & Rakim is an American hip-hop duo, which consists of DJ Eric B. born Eric Barrier, and MC Rakim, born William Griffin. They are considered the greatest DJ/MC tandem in hip-hop. Eric B. and Rakim started to record songs together and were mentored by Marley Marl when they released their first single, Eric B. Is President, in 1986. Their full-length debut album, Paid in Full, entered the Top Ten on the R&B LP charts in 1987. Eric B. & Rakim signed with record company MCA and released another classic hip-hop album, Follow the Leader, in 1988. Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em, their third studio album, was not as commercially successful as their first two. Don't Sweat the Technique, the duo's last album together was released in 1992. In 2016, Eric B. revealed that he and Rakim have reformed as a duo and would tour in 2017, with an appearance at New York City's Apollo Theater.
