Cameron Brate was born in Naperville, Illinois on July 3, 1991. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted agent in 2014. In November of that year, he became part of the active roster. The team released him in 2015, and the New Orleans Saints signed him.
He returned to the Buccaneers in 2016 and played in 15 games. He signed another contract with the Buccaneers in 2017 worth $690,000 and valid for one year. On March 2018, he signed a $41 million, six-year contract with Tampa Bay.
Prior to pursuing a career in professional football, Brate played college football at Harvard. He was redshirted during the 2010 season. He was also part of the football team at Naperville Central High School.
