Fred Hammond is an American gospel singer, musician and record producer. He was born on the 27th of December, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas. He is mostly known for being a pioneer in the gospel genre Urban Praise & Worship. He is one of the major exponents of gospel and during his career he has been awarded many times, including three Grammys, and several Stellar awards. He began his career as a member of the band Commissioned, before continuing as a solo artist. He is a major influence of contemporary artists such as Justin Bieber, who declared that Hammond’s single “No Weapon” was his favorite song. He has performed in several major gospel festivals like the Festival of Praise Tour, alongside the likes of Kim Burrell, Hezekiah Walker, and Kirk Franklin. He is also the owner and CEO of the Hammond Music Label. He has also worked alongside hip hop artists Snoop Dog and Kanye West.
