Robert Keith McFerrin Jr., better known as Bobby McFerrin, is an American jazz singer and professional vocal technique expert who is renowned for his live improvisation and scat singing. He was born in Manhattan, New York, United States, on March 11, 1950. He began his music career in 1970 and had relative success, but he gained fame with the release of his 1988 hit single Don’t Worry Be Happy. Apart from the song’s positive lyrics, it introduced the world to new ways of integrating vocals in music production. Bobby has received multiple Grammy Awards including Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. He has performed with the likes of Jon Hendricks and The Manhattan Transfer.
