Gary Whitta is a screenwriter born on 21st July 1972 in London, England. He has worked for both the US and UK editions of PC Gamer magazine as editor-in-chief. Whitta got his first job at ACE magazine as a writer and games journalist. He later worked as deputy editor at the video game magazine, The One for Amiga Games when ACE was closed in 1992. Besides being a regular contributor to game reviews and opinion articles in different publications, Whitta is also a renowned screenwriter, having written several screenplays and television episodes.
His breakthrough as a screenwriter was with the post-apocalyptic action film, “The Book of Eli”. He later worked with Chris Weston on the “Moneky Project” script. He, however, pulled out of the project before its conclusion. Whitta is also credited for screenwriting the film “Undying”. He was later hired to write a script for Gareth Edwards-directed epic space opera film “Rogue One”.
