A four-piece Mexican Latin rock band Genitallica arose from Andrés, Beno, Gildardo, Antulio, and Gallo's comic project Genitalandia, which they started in 1997.
These five teenage artists began making music inspired by their own comics, and a year later, Genitallica was conceived. In November of 1998, the band made a demo, which was quickly followed by live performances, leading them the opportunity to sign with Sony Music.
They relocated to Seattle to work with producer Barret Jones on Genitallica's debut album, Picas o Platicas?, which was released in 2001 and featured a comic book designed by Mexican Mario Videgaray and Sergio Moreno, as well as the recordings "Mi Mariguana" and "Qué Fue Lo Que Paso?"
