Claudia Gadelha is a Brazilian MMA fighter, born on December 7, 1988, in Mossoro, Brazil. She is known for competing in the Women’s Strawweight division of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). She joined the UFC in 2013, where she competed and won the division’s inaugural bout. She is also known for being chosen as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 23.
In 2008, she made her professional debut facing Elaine Leite but didn’t start fighting regularly until 2009. Claudia is a multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion, winning Brazilian Nationals, Rio International Open, and the World Championship. She has trained with Jose Aldo, a retired UFC Featherweight Champion, at Nova Uniao. She gained global popularity by winning against Tina Lahdemaki in the UFC’s first female strawweight fight in 2014. She has numerous awards including Fan Favorite Fighter in 2013, and Fight of the Month in 2016. She is residing in Las Vegas where she trains at Xtreme Couture and the UFC Performance Institute.
