Gustavo Dudamel was born in Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela on January 26, 1981. He has been the Music & Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for ten years during the 2018-19 season. He founded the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles in 2007 to provide music education to thousands for members of the underserved communities in LA. Among his awards include the Paez Medal of Art in 2018. He was also the 2013 Musician of the Year by Musical America and he was voted into Gramophone’s Hall of Fame. Due to his contribution to the musical art, he was inducted into the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In 2009, he was also named as Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. He received honorary doctorates from the University of Gothenburg and the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado.
