Counterparts is a Canadian punk band from Ontario, Canada that has been active since 2007. The band members consist of Brendan Murphy as lead vocalist, Alex Re and Blake Hardman as guitarists, Tyler William on bass and Kyle Brownlee on drums. Formed in Hamilton, Ontario, Counterparts released their very first album in 2010 titled ‘Prophets’. The hardcore punk band signed with record label Victory Records in 2011 and released ‘The Current Will Carry Us’ which was received well by punk listeners. As their fan base began to grow, the band released a third album in 2013, ‘The Difference Between Hell and Home’. After the departure of their third album, guitarist Alex Re’s and the arrival of Blake Hardman, Counterparts released an album titled ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ in 2017 under New Damage Records. ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ landed on the Billboard 200 at the number 112 spot. The band’s most recent work, ‘Nothing Left To Love’ debuted in 2019 at number 97 on the US Billboard 200. Music blog Stereogum defines the band to be “a metalcore powerhouse”.
