Laurie Zoe Hernandez is an American professional, artistic gymnast who is best known for her medal-winning performances at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. She was born in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, United States, on June 9, 2000. As a junior gymnast, Laurie competed at the U.S. Classic, the National Championships, the WOGA Classic, and Junior Japan International. She turned professional in 2016 with a performance at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. Along with Simone Biles, Madison Kocian, Aly Raisman, and Gabby Douglas, she is part of the famed Final Five artistic gymnastics team that won gold for the USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She has made several appearances on TV shows including Dancing with the Stars, Entertainment Tonight, Home & Family, American Ninja Warrior Junior, and Defying Gravity: The Untold Story of Women's Gymnastics.
