Rui Patricio is a Portuguese professional footballer born on 15th February 1988. He plays as goalkeeper for Italian club Roma and the Portuguese national team. Patricio spent his youth career at Sporting CP’s youth academy before making his senior debut with the club at the age of 18. He played 467 games for the club, winning five trophies. In 2018, he joined the Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers. He helped the team reach the continental quarter-finals of the Europa League for the first time since 1972. He joined A.S Roma in July 2021 on a three-year contract.
Patricio was called up to the Portuguese national team in January 2008. However, he did not make his debut until November 2010, when he came on as a second-half substitute in a friendly match against Spain. He has maintained his position between the sticks all these years, appearing in many competitions for the national team, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup, 2019 UEFA Nations League, and the Euro 2020.
