Sammie Leigh Bush Jr., better known mononymously as Sammie, is an American R&B singer-songwriter. He is best known for his single ‘I Like It’ released in 1999. Sammie’s career started in a vocal group he formed called the Wonder 3. They auditioned at the Apollo for Showtime which eventually led to Joyce Irby selecting Sammie out of the group. She introduced him to Dallas Austin, who signed him to Capitol’s affiliate FreeWorld Entertainment. He released ‘I Like It’ as his debut single which landed on number 8 on the Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart in 1999 and number 24 on the Hot 100. Sammie’s second album came in 2000 titled ‘From Top The Bottom’ with his next charting single, ‘Crazy Things I Do’. Sammie took a long hiatus to focus on his studies and jumped back into the music scene in 2006 with a self-titled album. In the same year, he was featured on Soulja Boy’s hit single, ‘Kiss Me Thru the Phone’. Sammie released another mixtape in 2015 titled ‘Indigo’ followed by ‘Coming of Age’ in 2017 through his own label, Independent Star Camp. ‘Coming of Age’ features R&B artist Eric Bellinger on the track ‘Show and Tell’ and Rick Ross on this album’s most played track, ‘Good Life’. The track has 7 million plays on Spotify. The 33 year old released his most recent album in 2019 titled ‘Everlasting’.
