Maria Rita Bio

Maria Rita is a famous Brazilian singer and star who was born on September 9th 1977 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Rita is the daughter of Elis Regina and Cesar Camargo Mariano, the famed Brazilian musicians. She graduated from New York University and started singing professionally when she turned 24.

Rita dropped her self-titled DVD in 2004 that was her live performance at Bourbon Street in Sao Paulo. She won the Latin Grammys for Best New Artist in that year. Her second album Segundo dropped in 2005 and was an even bigger hit selling over 700,000 copies. The live DVD Segundo ao Vivo followed the next year while Samba Meu, her third album, dropped in 2007. It hit #10 on the Brazilian charts and was certified platinum.

Her England tour’s live rendition was released Samba Meu: Ao Vivo appeared in 2008 and was again certified platinum, gaining Rita a nomination for best new artists at BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music. In 2010 she dropped Elo which was backed by Tiago Costa (pianist), Sylvinho Mazzucca (acoustic bass) and Cuca Teixeira (drums). 2014’s Coração a Batucar hit #1 on the Brazilian charts and was certified platinum. Rita won several latin grammy awards and her most popular singles include Não Deixe O Samba Morrer, Tá Perdoado and Cara Valente.
