Nels Cline is a well-known American guitarist and composer who was born on January 4, 1956, in the state of California, in the United States of America. He began playing the guitar when he was 12 years old, and he cited Jimi Hendrix's song "Manic Depression" as one of the primary influences that pushed him to become a professional guitarist. He also cited other songs by Hendrix as having been important. In 2004, he became a member of the alternative rock band Wilco. In a similar poll, readers of Rolling Stone magazine ranked him as the 82nd greatest guitarist of all time, while readers of Spin magazine ranked him as the 43rd. In addition to that, he was a member of the band Wilco and played alongside lead singer Jeff Tweedy.
