Olga Tanon Bio

Olga Tanon, born Olga Teresa Tanon Ortiz on April 13, 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rican musician and recording artist. Olga began singing when she joined a group called Ringo and Jossie’s Girls in the 1980’s. While unsuccessful with this group, another popular Puerto Rican singing group called Chantelle took notice of Olga and recruited her to the band. As a member of Chantelle, Olga lead the group to its most successful single called “Aunque Tu no Quieras.”
In 1992 Olga was signed to the record label WEA Latina as a solo artist. She released her debut solo album, Sola, in 1992. The singles “Me Cambio por Ella” and “Quiero estar contigo” quickly became popular and recognizable hits in Latin music. In 1993 she released her second album called Mujer de Fuego. In 1994 and 1996 she received her first platinum and multiplatinum certifications for the albums Siente el Amor. Olga became the first Puerto Rican artists to be certified platinum by the RIAA. Her collaboration album with singer Marco Antonio Solis, called Nuevos Senderos, became an international hit and gained Olga a US Billboard #1 Top Latin Track with the single “Basta Ya!” Olga continued to release albums up to 2017 and has won a combination of 3 Grammys and Latin Grammys.
