Vanessa Hau Mdee (June 7, 1988), better known as Vanessa Mdee or Vee Money, is a native Tanzanian singer, songwriter, rapper, radio host and TV personality. The now 31-year-old had previously wanted to become a lawyer, having studied law at Catholic University of Eastern Africa. After her studies, Mdee auditioned to be a host on MTV through their VJ search in 2007. Vanessa landed the VJ spot and within her first year, she became a recognizable TV personality. As she dedicated her time to being on TV and radio, she became the 102.5 Choice FM’s The Hitlist in 2011. She has interviewed many popular artists like Mac Miller, Ludacris, Stella Mwangi, Tay Grin, and many more. Mdee had also become the brand ambassador for Samsung Tanzania in 2015. In the same year, Mdee released her debut single in, ‘Closer’ which was followed by several singles such as ‘Nobody But Me’, ‘Tusimame’ and ‘Come Over. Her powerhouse vocals received much praise and were given several awards; All Africa Music Awards, African Muzik Magazine Awards in 2015., and Tanzania Music Awards. Mdee had a long hiatus from releasing any music and it was only until 2018. that she released her full debut album, ‘Money Mondays’.
