Keep of Kalessin is a Norwegian metal band formed in 1993 in Trondheim, Norway. The founding members of the band were Ghâsh (vocalist), Arnt Grønbech or Obsidian C. (guitarist/keyboardist), Warach (bassist), and Vyl (drummer). The band’s name was inspired by Ursula Guin’s Earthsea Trilogy and many of the band’s lyrics are referenced from the series.
Keep of Kalessin first released 1997’s Through Times of War and 1999’s Agnen: A Journey Through the Dark, both Scandinavian black metal albums. Even though the band disbanded after the release of those two LPs, Arnt Grønbech with the help of drummer Frost and vocalist Attila Csihar, released Reclaim EP in 2003 under the Keep of Kalessin name. By 2006, Grønbech released a third full-length for Keep of Kalessin named Armada.
