Naomi Osaka Bio

Naomi Osaka is a Japanese tennis player born in Osaka in 1997. She grew up in the United States and started being trained as a tennis player by her father at a very young age. She has always represented Japan in the court. Osaka started contesting in the pro satellite category, and in 2013 she ascended to the pro category. In 2016 she was distinguished as Newcomer of the Year by the WTA and won her first match in California two years later. In September 2018, she won the U.S. Open tournament and earned the Grand Slam title. In 2019 she won the Australian Open and was ranked as the #1 player, being the first Asian person to hold this ranking. This year she also turned to coach Jermaine Jenkins and had a minor performance at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, but won the Osaka and Beijing tournaments. In 2020 the athlete won the U.S. Open again.
