Anand Giridharadas Bio
Anand Giridharadas is an American writer born in 1981 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is known for writing essays and opinion pieces on immigration, race relations, and American identity. He grew up between Cleveland, Paris, and Maryland, and attended the University of Michigan before moving to Mumbai as a consultant and journalist. At age 17 he started a writing internship at The New York Times, and in 2008 he became a columnist with his bi-weekly piece “Letter from America.” He has also worked as a correspondent for the New York Times in Italy, India, Dubai, Japan, Haiti, Colombia, and Nigeria among other countries. Giridharadas has also been a keynote speaker for TEDtalks, the United Nations, and several universities and associations all around the world. Giridharadas is a distinguished writer, having received numerous honors from the Society of Publishers in Asia, Yale University, the Aspen Institute, Harvard University, among others.
