Marcus Oliver Johnstone Mumford is a British singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer best known as the lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist of the popular British folk band Mumford & Sons. He was born in Yorba Linda, California, United States, on January 31, 1987.
Mumford's musical career began in 2007 when he formed Mumford & Sons with fellow band members. They released their debut album, Sigh No More, in 2009, which was an instant success and garnered critical acclaim. Mumford's signature raspy vocals and his proficiency on the guitar, mandolin, and drums were integral to the band's unique sound.
The band has since released four more albums, with each one showcasing Mumford's songwriting and production skills. Mumford has also worked on several side projects, including collaborations with artists such as Elvis Costello, Baaba Maal, and the group The New Basement Tapes.
