The Judds Bio
The Judds is a country music duo formed in 1983 in Ashland, Kentucky, USA. The duo comprises Diana Ellen Judd (Naomi) and Christina Ciminella (Wynonna). They molded the sound of contemporary country music in the 1980s. They signed to RCA Nashville in 1983, followed by their debut single, Had a Dream (For the Heart).
Their second single, Mama He's Crazy, was their breakout hit, debuting at number one and earning them a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal by a Duo or Group. Their first album, Why Not Me, was released in 1984. They released six studio albums between 1983 and 1991, including Rockin' with the Rhythm (1985), Heartland (1987), Christmas Time with the Judds (1987), River of Time (1989), and Love Can Build a Bridge (1990).
The Judds won the Top Vocal Duo award at the Academy of Country Music from 1984 to 1990. Likewise, they won the Vocal Group of the Year by the Country Music Association from 1985 to 1991. In 2013, the duo received the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022. They won the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1986, 1987, 1989, and 1992.
